Breakfast with Santa, class-by-class visits, the end of a Christmas program, and a parish or parent-group family night are the kinds of events we cover. One adult from the staff stays with the line so Santa can greet without managing the room.
Set a chair where each class can file past, keep one adult to keep the line moving, and put the gifts in one place if Santa will hand them out. Pictures can be with each class, or one child at a time, whichever the staff prefers.
Daycares often want a morning visit, with teachers close by. Toddlers who would rather wave from across the room can do that; Santa still greets the group and poses with the children who want to come closer.
A breakfast with Santa works best when the kitchen crew knows what time he walks in, so plates are down and kids are in their seats. A class-by-class visit works best when each teacher knows which door to use and how long their group will be with him.
Parent-group family nights often mix preschoolers with older siblings, so the line is uneven. It helps to have a volunteer at the front of the line and another at the back so little ones spend less time waiting in a gym.
If gifts will be handed out, keep them in one box by the chair, labeled if they are personal. Unlabeled candy canes can sit in a bowl on a table for the elves or for staff to hand out at the end.
